Single Parenting, Round Two
Perhaps you recall my trials and tribulations last spring when Joe went out of the country for work.
This time, he's gone for longer and I've just (on Monday!) started my new job. I'm still getting used to the commute, which is why it took me two hours and two buses to get there this morning, when it should take one hour and one bus.
And on the way home I realized I left my car keys at the office...in Seattle. Lucky for me, Tory the super-Nanny swooped in to get me in our other car. Tacoma Dome Station security assures me my car will be ok there overnight.
Meanwhile, Joe tells me the airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico is kind of a dump. He said something about a really bad sandwich.

For those of you who wonder what it is I do all day
US News and World Report has declared my job a "best-kept-secret career." Curious.
Overheard on campus
It's not fun to be back at work, but I am somewhat enjoying being back on campus. Spring makes all the students lively, and I've taken to eating at the student-run eatery The Flaming Eggplant, despite their apparent motto, "raw garlic is our only seasoning!" (luckily I fully support their secondary motto, "beets in some form on every dish!") Standing in line at The Eggplant affords me some great student interaction, as does being back in the action of main campus in my new office.
Craters
Every time Joe tells me the craters are scheduled to come to M-Space tomorrow, I imagine this:

But it's really just humans who build crates around stuff for shipping. In this case, the stuff is electric glassblowing equipment for a cruise ship. If Joe keeps at this, we will live in a world where not one cruise ship patron has to endure a cruise without watching live glassblowing.
The equipment itself is super cool looking. I wonder if it's ok for me to post a picture here? Joe is sleeping, so I can't ask him.

Uh, it's sideways, but you get the idea. My new computer doesn't have any photo editing software on it yet.
